About

Hi! I’m Tuan Truong — but you can call me Tuna 🐟.

I was a Machine Learning Research Resident at VinAI Research (now Qualcomm AI Research), where I worked with Professors Trung Le and Nhat Ho. In 2024, I earned a Combined Honours degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from The University of British Columbia, where I also worked as a Research Assistant under the supervision of Professor Kevin Leyton-Brown. Before all that, I was a math Olympian - winning a bronze medal šŸ„‰ at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2018.

Research Interests

My research focuses on designing efficient and robust foundation models, grounded in theoretical principles and driven by practical demands. My work to date centers on parameter-efficient fine-tuning and geometry-aware optimization methods, with the broader goal of making foundation models more adaptable, scalable, and reliable.
